A sub-tropical citrus tree grown for its fruit, the Grapefruit, it was originally named the ‘forbidden fruit’ of the Barbados. Growing at a height of around 5-6 m tall, although they can reach 13-15 m, the leaves of the Grapefruit are dark green, long and thin. Producing 5 cm white four-petalled flowers, the Grapefruit is yellow-skinned, largely oblate and ranges in diameter from 10-15 cm and has an acidic yellow segmented pulp. An excellent source of some of The Nutrients which form quite a health diet, the Grapefruit is a good source of Vitamins and minerals and phytochemicals.
