Green Tea

Green tea has turned out to be one of the most popular health drinks in modern times. Originated in China, green tea features prominently in the list of energetic drinks in countries such as Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, India, Taiwan, Kazakhstan, Morocco and the Middle East. It's been embraced by western citizens as well, who are traditionally accustomed to a healthy eating habit.

High quality green teas are indigenous to China. The Zhejiang province in China is particularly famous for producing exquisite brands of green teas. The popular ones are Long Ding, Longjing, Hua Ding, Gunpowder, Hui Ming and Qing Ding. Jiangsu province, Henan province, Hubei province, Jianxsi province and Anhui province are also noted for large-scale production of green tea.
The time taken to brew green tea changes with specific brands. The temperature also differs accordingly. The maximum brewing temperature may reach 180°F to 190°F (82°C to 88°C), while the minimum hovers around 140°F to 150°F (60°C to 66°C). Characteristically, not-so-good qualities of green tea is absorbed in warmer water for a prolonged period. Added care is taken as far as the steeping time and temperature is concerned.

The liquid caffeine content present in green tea is approximately a quarter of coffee.
The history of green tea can be dated back to 5000 years, with China and India holding the distinction of pioneering the cultivation. India, China, Thailand and Japan have long been promoting green tea as a natural medicine for bleeding, diabetic and indigestion problems. It's claimed that consuming green tea on a regular basis can also have a positive impact on heart. The United States Food and Drug Administration has approved of an ointment made from green tea. This ointment, named Kunecatechins, is used for the treatment of genital and perianal verrucas.
